Me & Tedford
As some of you may know, this is the time of year when the WPPI Conference happens in Las Vegas. It was an easy trip out here, and some interesting things happened along the way. As I sat waiting for my airplane to take off, I notice this man walking down the aisle with a nice Block “C” Jersey jacket for Cal. As a Cal alumn, those things sort of stick out to me. As he gets closer, I realize that it’s Coach Jeff Tedford. He’s flying solo, and I assume on a recruiting trip. He sits down about four rows behind me. After sitting though about thirty minutes I decided that it would be great just to tell him how much I enjoy the job that he and his staff do with training the college athletes at Cal. He is a nice guy and didn’t seem aggravated that I interrupted him while he was working on the plane. He was a pleasure to meet, and was nice enough to allow me to get in a photograph with him after we landed.
The next interesting thing is that after I got checked into the hotel and was heading to the elevator, I noticed a couple of attractive girls and their boyfriends heading in the same direction. The girls were not wearing what I would consider to be “safe for work” clothing, but then again I guess that depends on your line of work. Let me just say that what they were wearing was pretty noticeable. As we get into the elevator, I realize that it is Hugh Hefner’s ex-GF, Bridget Marquardt and her fiance with a couple of friends. She was actually very nice and seemed to be there as part of an obligation to the Playboy franchise. She’s actually on my floor right now just down the hall. Sorry, no photographs of me and Bridget!
All I can say is that this could be the most interesting WPPI yet! Just kidding, every year this event gets better and better and I’m hoping to reconnect with some friends from across the country and to get re-inspired for creating more beautiful photography this year. There will be more posts about the conference itself in the next few days. Stay tuned.
